As our world grows more connected and complex, intercultural fluency has become a necessity. To continue delivering a premier Jesuit education, Gonzaga must support global exchange: helping more of our students and faculty study and serve abroad, and inviting international scholars to Spokane to share their wisdom with our community.
The Lure of London
In addition to Gonzaga’s long-standing study abroad program in Florence, London has a strong appeal for a good number of students each year. In fact, it’s No. 2 among the 30 options Zags have for taking courses overseas. Here, two students share about the coursework they enjoyed during their time in Great Britain.
Beyond the Classroom: Immersion in Florence
For Professor Batterman, who has spent 26 of his 33 Gonzaga years at the Florence program, learning about the language and culture of Italy is all about immersing students into its streets and its people, the vineyards, marketplaces, galleries and cathedrals.
La Mia Famiglia
Fifty years of passionate students; fifty years of incredible study-abroad adventures; fifty years of enriching interactions and relationships.
Seeing the World Through New Eyes
"I have been exposed to these situations for the first time and although I do not have complete comprehension, these things carry me forward on my journey toward growth and self-awareness.”
Trust to Transform the World
“I hope that every Gonzaga graduate will, as Saint Ignatius once said, ‘go forth and set the world on fire.”
Florence at 50
Now in its fifth decade, Gonzaga’s flagship study abroad program has amassed more life-changing stories than there are miles between Spokane, Washington and Florence, Italy (just over 8,600). Find out how some of the first Gonzaga-In-Florence students’ experiences came to be.
Books for Africa
Gonzaga’s approach to international education engages strategic partners in mutually-enriching projects and programs—like the collaboration between GU’s School of Education and the Charles Lwanga College of Education on the Chukuni Mission in Zambia. Learn how Jesuit principles and these “Zambian Zags” can change the landscape of Zambian education.
Goal
Enable more than 50 percent of Gonzaga students to travel abroad and welcome at least 10 percent more international students to campus each year.
Financial Goal
$7.5 Million
International Learning Experience
To continue to provide a world-class education for our students, Gonzaga will weave global themes into course offerings and invite scholars representing the world to campus to teach and dialogue with our students and faculty. We commit to expanding partnerships that will bring more international students to study and live at Gonzaga, while expanding study abroad experiences for our students.

Global Partnerships
We believe that learning should be a collaborative, barrier-breaking, border-crossing adventure. By forming partnerships with schools across the globe, our students can share a virtual classroom with peers in Africa, or travel to China to work with researchers on shared projects. With your support, they can take their place among the global community of scholars.
Help us do more than we could imagine. Make real this transformative vision.
